Jennifer’s been inspiring me to cook something, again. Gina and I talked about making her cake-ball recipe. I keep thinking she could make up a better moniker for them. Anyways, then today I see pictures of Jenn making macarons.

Macarons are not macaroons. They are light, slightly chewy cookies  held together with a delicious filling, like hazelnut chocolate. You have to pronounce them with a slight French gutteral -on. Macaron, followed by a French laugh and a wave of your cigarette over your scarf and beret. Macarons look like rainbow colored hamburgers. Jason, in fact, thought that’s what they were and even had a name for them, ‘Rainborgers’, but then he found out those don’t exist. He was sad.

I imagine a purple hamburger would taste like a Lisa Frank eraser.

Not a Parisian macaron. I don't know what it is, really.

This looks like a delicious recipe:  Parisian macarons with earl grey chocolate ganache.  Maybe I’ll try it sometime this month.
