According to the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell (author of Blink), it takes 10,000 hours of practice to be an expert at something.

So, by simply going through medical school and residency, we’re going to be experts by default. 10,000 hours? We’ll be experts twice over.

  1. I did the math myself…working almost 12k hours in 3 years is a sad thought. And then there’s 3 more years of that in fellowship.
