David Sedaris once wrote how he had found glass eyeballs at a museum shop and thought it’d be funny to hold them up to his own eyes, until he noticed a sign warning against the very idea. Not only was he not the first person to think of this, but apparently enough people had had the same idea to warrant a warning. Is anything unique anymore?
Likewise, around March, I was spouting off the incredible idea of a pillow-hat. I just imagined this would become the latest fashion trend, people with these hats that allowed to you lay down anywhere and comfortably sleep or just relax. A blanket dress would complete the package.
Then I found this:
I am too late. Sure, they don’t have a blanket dress, but the gut of the whole project was the pillow-head combination.
I guess the secret to life is being first to do something, because odds are you aren’t the only one who will come up with the idea. I think even Isaac Newton had competition for making up calculus.
